I suffered a stroke on Thanksgiving day 2011 which
left
me with left side paralysis . I can’t walk without
assistance. Moreover, I cannot use a manual
wheelchair
independently as I have no strength or
control on my
left side. I have to depend on others
when travel with
regular wheel chair which could be
a burden for my wife
and kids to push me.
The Air Hawk has changed my life. I am mobility
impaired. By that I mean that
it is difficult for me
to walk more than 20 feet or
so. This power chair is
almost literally a “life
saver”. It gave my life back
so I could enjoy time with
my family without needing
to burden them to push me
around. The Air Hawk
folds easily and light
weight at about 41 lbs. my wife
and kids have no problem
loading and unloading this
chair. Moreover, the Air
Hawk is rated for airline
use and that’s one reason I
bought it. It folds up
compactly and the battery
life is amazing. My first
trip with my Air Hawk was a
10 days Disney trip at
Florida.
First of all, traveling to the airport is a breeze. The
Air Hawk is an ultra
lightweight mobility chair,
weighted only 41 Ibs, With a
folding dimension of
32 in (L) x 23.25 in (W) x
12.25 in (H), it is the size
of a large suitcase allowing
it to fit in the truck of
most cars.
Once at the airport, I just informed the service
person at the counter that I
need a tag for gate
check. I got to ride to the
gate and check the chair
like other device like a
baby carriage. And I just
picked up the chair at the
plane entrance upon
arrival. Batteries are nice
and lightweight. They
only weigh 5 pounds each.
The chair uses one battery
at a time. Though it comes
with two, you only need
one. It’s sturdy enough. A
fully charged battery is
rated for 25 miles range.
With its two removable
lithium battery packs, I
have yet to become
stranded because I've run
out of "juice". I just
swap 'em around in less than
1 minute and keep
on motoring. They charge up
quickly in the evening
and I never leave he house
without both battery
packs fully charged to cover
large area in the parks.
It comes with a cable to
charge the battery out of the
chair. Moreover, the chair
can be switched to manual
mode and someone can push
you if something
happens.
The seat is very comfortable (I am 6’ and 190 lbs)
and I have spent hours at a
time in it with no
discomfort. The flip out
foot rest provides for a
comfortable extension for my
legs. I can’t say
enough about the vendor.
Communication was easy
and shipping was super fast.
If you are in the market
for a portable power
wheelchair you can’t go wrong
with this.
