How To Determine Pinnacle Heavy Duty Stair Lift Rail
Length?
Determine obstructions that will affect the position and
length of the rail, such as walls, doors, hallway
orientation, etc.
Measure the overall length of the stairs from the nose at
the top landing to the floor (nose to floor measurement),
e.g., 128".
For a normal stairway with adequate landing space, add 7"
to the nose to floor measurement. This will provide enough
rail length to allow the stair lift to be adjusted so that
the floor-to-seat height will be the same at both the top
and bottom.
If the top landing has restrictions (i.e., a wall or
doorway), use the chart below to determine the length of
extension needed.
To cut the rail, use a standard 12" chop saw, with a blade
designed to cut aluminum.
Remote Control Operation
The key switch on the arm of the chair must be in the
position to use the remote call/send control.
There are sensitive edges on the top and bottom of the
carriage, and the front, back and underside of the
footrest. If any of these edges touches an obstruction the
lift will halt immediately and the armrest LED indicator
light will turn orange. The lift may only be driven away
from the obstruction.
An interlock on the swivel seat prevents the lift from
being operated unless the seat is in its normal, locked
position. The safety brake is always engaged.

Mount Side:
From the bottom of your staircase looking up, determine on
which side you want the lift installed. Because the lift
mounts to the stairs and not the wall, you may choose either
side.
2.
Measurement A - Top to Bottom: Stand at the top of your stairs
and extend your tape measure down the staircase. The tape
measure should lightly touch each stair tread and the tip
should touch the landing at the bottom of the steps. The
measurement should be from the front edge (nose) of the top
landing to the floor at the bottom landing.
Measurement B - Top to First Step: Measure from the front edge
(nose) at the top of the landing to the front edge (nose) of
the first step.
3.
Measurement C - Stair Tread Length: Measure the tread of a
stair from front edge (nose) of a stair to back.
Measurement D - Stair Rise Height: Measure the rise of a stair
by measuring the length from the front edge (nose) of one step
straight down to the next tread.
Number of Risers: Count the number of stair risers on your
staircase.
4.
Measurement E - Top Obstruction Distance: Measure the distance
from the front edge of the top step to any obstruction on the
top landing. Common obstructions include doors, walls or
railings.
Measurement F - Bottom Obstruction Distance: Measure the
distance from the front edge of the bottom stair to any
obstruction on the bottom landing.
5.
Measurement G - Stair Width: Measure the width of the stairs
from side to side.
